REFLECTING

Successful development can only be achieved if one is able to self-reflect. As such I have actively incorporated this into my teaching practice. By practicing Brookfield's method of critical reflection through the four lenses of self, student, peer and literature I have developed a habitual process of mindful reflecting.

Artist/Teacher/Researcher

Mediating an identity which merges ones teacher persona with their artist self is not an easy process. The creation and development of the artist-teacher identity is a very complicated and distinct process influenced by many variables, such as ones personal and professional identities as a teacher and an artist, the approach in ones personal and pedagogic philosophy and practice, the nature of their school and its environment, and the stage of their career that they find themselves. It is so that I believe the artist-teacher is an ever evolving personal construct, one that I navigate throughout my professional practice.
